About to Apply for a Grant or Grant Request Declined?

Did you know your mission statement has a great impact on the success of your grant proposals? Your mission statement is the core of your public relation tools and summarizes the goals and activities of your organization. Therefore, a good mission statement is a requirement for successful fundraising and marketing visibility. This leads to the question of “what is a good mission statement”. There is no right or wrong way of writing one. However, a mission statement should be reflective of the nonprofit and it should be inspirational, clear, compelling and slogan ready. In addition to influencing your market and target audience, the mission statement will also impact staff, board members, volunteers, and supporters. It will direct the organization leaders and strategic planning, and subsequently be used as a yard stick to determine the organization’s impact.

Writing a mission statement can be difficult and convoluted but nonetheless is vital to the organization’s focus and success. Therefore, it’s imperative to focus on three tenets Who, How and Why. Each nonprofit must be able to answer the following questions;

  • Who do you serve?

  • How do you do it?

  • Why do you do it?

An organization that can answer these questions clearly, is better able to develop a cohesive story and a defined action plan. This subsequently allows the organization to build a concise mission statement that will help donors, officers, staff and clients to understand exactly what the nonprofit does while providing a roadmap to keep the organization from drifting from its’ purpose.

Np Grant Writers LLC will help with your grant writing proposal and complete your grant application to meet all the requirements of potential donors.
